In a powerful initiative to combat air pollution and climate change, Saathi, a 12-foot-tall bear, has become a beacon of hope for children and youth across Nepal. Introduced on Earth Day 2023, Saathi has been traveling nationwide to spotlight the severe impact of air pollution on young lives. As the official mascot for the Generation Hope campaign, in partnership with Save the Children Nepal, Saathi is championing climate action and inspiring change.
Air pollution in Nepal poses a critical challenge, with alarming statistics linking it to reduced life expectancy. Saathi's mission goes beyond raising awareness. Through the Generation Hope initiative, child and youth climate activists are empowered to collaborate with policymakers, driving impactful and sustainable solutions for a healthier, greener future.
Kazi Studios took on the challenge of addressing air pollution by creating an engaging and impactful solution for children. We designed a comic book featuring "Saathi – the Air Bear," who embarks on a journey across Nepal, collecting heartfelt letters from children. These letters expressed concerns about air pollution and urged officials to take action.
The collected messages were presented to the Mayor, sparking meaningful conversations and gradual improvements in the environment. The comic book aimed to show children that their voices were heard and that their advocacy contributed to policy changes for cleaner air. This creative initiative not only educated young readers but also highlighted the power of collective action in driving environmental change.
